We pull into the salon parking lot. We were just here yesterday.
Ayden and Armando got their hair cut. Aunt Erica gave Ayden a feather. “I want the pink one,” Ayden told her. Pink is her color. She watched in the mirror as the feather was pressed in her hair. “I like it.” She had said. She even made her Papi buy her a hot pink flower purse on the way out.
So, today she is excited to see the salon.
“You’re not getting anything today,” he daddy tells her.
“I’m getting my hair done,” she says assertively, “Okay?”
“Mami is getting her hair done.” He tells her.
“I am getting my hair done. Okay?” she says again.
32 months old, full of sass, and concerned with trends!--- God help us.
