Seventeen Month Vocabulary

I was reading a thread the other day in which a mother expressed concern over her child's development. Apparently, her doctor made her feel like her son was not developing properly because, at eighteen months, he was only saying around eighteen words. this got me thinking about my daughter's development, so i compiled a list of Ayden's vocabulary. Ayden is seventeen months old and can say the following:

people:
1. Mommy
2. Daddy
3. Angie
4. Elie
5. me
6. baby

representatitve sounds:
7. woof woof -- dog, obviously
8. quack quack -- duck, again, obvious
9. roar -- (dinosaurs, crocodiles, lions, and bears all fall in this category)
10. vroom -- yes, that's a car, good guess

emotions:-- (they count)
11. Yay!
12. uh-oh!
13. Shhh!
14. No
15. love you--which actually sounds more like "ah- you"

things:
16. "mow" --which means remote
17. eye
18. shoe
19. plane

wants/ directions:
20. papa-- meaning food
21. agua-- meaning water
22. juice
23. caca-- for a diaper change
24. go-- to go outside
25. mami shoe-- so I can put on my shoes and take her outside
26. five-- high five
27. stop

other:
28. one, two, three... she says them in unison anytime there are multiples of things
29. red
30. orange
31. why?
32. what?
33. hello
34. hi
35. sup? (whats up?)

and she can sign the following:
1. poop
2. all done
3. pacifier
4. give it to me
5. apple
6. no
7. water

beyond that she is already following a few commands.
She can bring me a diaper.
She can close the door.
She can "come inside." -- just to list a few examples.
So, overall, I think she is developing appropriately.
